Happy holidays! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas (if you celebrate!) — I took the day off from YC to spend time with family. We had a perfect day! But every year I wake up on the day after Christmas and feel just a little twinge of emptiness. The hustle and bustle of the holidays is enlivening, and after…it always feels like a quiet letdown. As we enter winter, the cold weather offers tranquil moments to pause and reflect on the past and coming years, and with New Year’s less than a week away, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing! January is on track to be a wonderful month for me so far: a trip to New York (!!!), my 21st birthday, my last semester of college, and starting an internship I couldn’t be more excited about!
I’ve wanted a cape ever since I saw Blair Waldorf’s cape in this episode of Gossip Girl, so it really came down to finding the right one. Over the last two seasons, I’ve seen them pop up more frequently. Finding this classic scalloped black option was a match made in heaven! I’m consistently drawn to timeless pieces, and this is a cape I know I’ll have for forever. Black pairs with everything, and think about how beautifully this cape will transition from casual to dressy! Paired with a long sleeve like I’ve done here, it’s perfect for a low-key dinner. Over a dress, and you have a chic coat for date night.
Not to be overlooked in this outfit is this ribbed long sleeve. I mean the black detailing is an exquisite touch! I love how it’s double cuffed too — so cute and different! They have other color combinations too! Some options available are blush pink with white trim, navy with white trim, red with burgundy trim, and black with white trim. The detail is perfect for layering — little additions like colored trim add something special under sweaters and coats.
I’ll be using the remainder of this week to come up with some worthwhile resolutions. If you have any ideas, comment below!
