Having been back from New York, I’m still experiencing major withdrawals. I know I’m meant to be there, and hopefully soon. There are so many reasons for this, and it’s difficult to articulate but I’ll boil it down to this: an internal gut feeling. In the meantime, my room is filled with New York mementos. I’m a dedicated decorist. 😉 My mom likes to call it my “vision board,” and I couldn’t think of a better name. Seeing little reminders of the city all around me reinforce my dream to be there, and always start my day on the right foot.
I just bought this last week at a Paper Source in New York. I love the vintage prints, a perfect ode to an older New York. They’re the most fun to flip through, and I’ll be looking forward to a new one each month!
With the hustle and bustle of the city, one of my favorite sayings is “in a New York minute.” It conveys efficiency and power, and completely belongs on a watch for a little pun humor!
This “Nouveau York” line is filled with urban chic pieces that are feminine and edgy. After wearing a similar pom hat last week (more pictures here!), I love this themed option!!
I’ve watched this shirt for months! I absolutely love the tiny watercolor illustrations and navy trim. Pairing a graphic tee with jeans or a skirt — a casual outfit instantly made.
How cute are these city-inspired glasses cases? I love the New York one so much! Perfect for sunglasses or eyeglasses.
Why not have a little city spirit with your morning cup of coffee? That sounds like the perfect start to any day!
A little “New York” around your wrist in a dainty rose gold bracelet?! Definite yes.
Fishs Eddy has this 212 collection (New York’s area code) that is simply perfect. Each piece features the city skyline in an attractive presentation. I especially love these small plates for meals!
I love putting my jewelry in trinket dishes to keep it displayed and organized. This one has a silhouette of the city — a decorative and functional addition to any vanity.
I loved this necklace the second it came out. A little cutout of the state, plus an iconic slogan — the perfect way to subtly wear a little New York everyday!
Megan Hess is a design illustration fiend! Her prints have shown up in Henri Bendel, Fendi, Tiffany & Co., Christian Louboutin, Prada, Dior, and so many other design catalogs and marketing projects. This book is filled with watercolors of the city. Swoon!
My bed is covered in New York pillows — from embroidered to prints, I love decorating my bed with peeks of the city. This one — in either black or white — will go with any bed set-up!
My mom and I got these matching sweatshirts last week in the city (complimentary monogramming at the J.Crew 5th Ave store too!), and it’s the comfiest little sweatshirt in the world. I love the minimalist block lettering, and it looks great with a white button-down slipped underneath.
A classic book…of course, Audrey Hepburn’s performance as Holly Golightly in the film version is legendary, but the book is an understated, intensely romantic letter to the city and worth the read, even if you know the movie script by heart!
Even after I leave the city, I always keep my metro card in my wallet. The hint of yellow makes me feel like the city is never too far away. Wearing a little gold metro card around my neck? What a fantastic reminder of the city!
Leave it to Kate Spade to come up with the most whimsical purse designs, per usual! This taxi one is a playful accessory, and one that will remind you of the city wherever you go.
I mentioned this print in a collaboration with Minted this past summer. It’s the focal point of my room, and I absolutely love it — it’s eye catching and people always compliment the artistry of the piece!
