Summer in Lilly Shorts

This weekend, I don’t know if our Southern Californian temperatures hit below 80 degrees. It was hot. On the plus side, I reorganized my closet and you can bet all my warm pieces are now at my fingertips. 🙂 Lilly Pulitzer shorts are a favorite of mine to pull out in the summertime — the colors just make me so happy!! I figured, why not talk about ways to pair them for today’s post?

It’s safe to say Lilly shorts speak for themselves, so opting for a solid tank or shirt is typically the way to go. White also works, but also picking a color out of the pattern on your shorts and wearing a shirt of that color would also work! These shorts would’ve worked with a light pink, yellow, or light blue blouse.

Small, dainty jewelry or a statement necklace if you want to be a bit bold would dress up this outfit perfectly. I went with a Kendra Scott pendant and a bow bangle. My nails were painted in a light pink, and I fishtailed my hair (also an amazing summer look!!). To create a fishtail, I love this tutorial. As an added step, I take one piece from the end of the fishtail and wrap it around to hide the elastic, securing it with hairspray and a bobby pin at the back of the braid.

Here’s some of my favorite prints from the season!
