When it comes to summertime traditions, picking sun kissed strawberries has to be one of my favorites. There’s something so romantic about finding the little red jewels tucked beneath beds of leaves in a field. And they taste so much sweeter than the ones in a grocery store! When I was little, one of my favorite treats was Strawberry Shortcake and even now, I often go for strawberry when I get an ice cream cone, so you could say the fruit has a special place in my heart.
Gingham has been the ultimate pattern this summer. I’ve always loved it, but I just feel like every retailer has caught on this season! I found this sweet tie dress at under $70 (on sale and linked below!) I love the nuance in it — the tie around the waist, the way it gathers and ruches at the top, and the ties on the sleeves. It can be worn on or off the shoulder, and I like it both ways!
Ever since I received my Hunters for my 20th birthday in January, I’ve gotten so much use out of them — partially because living in the Bay Area, they make for the perfect rainboot. You can see some other ways I’ve styled them here and here. Even in the summertime though, Hunters can be amazing for trudging through muddy terrain just like this strawberry field!
I’ve always loved the idea of hats but have such trouble finding one that I thought I simply couldn’t live without. This season, I made a commitment to myself to warm up to the idea, and this one (which is under $20!) is comfortable and flattering. I felt like frolicking through the fields wearing it, and I know it will come in handy this season as both an accessory and a functional means to stay out of the sun!
All of the summer fruits steal my heart during the season! Peaches, watermelon, strawberries!! We have so many strawberries now and are trying to eat them before they ripen too quickly. I found this recipe for strawberry sorbet that looks pretty yummy and this recipe for no-bake strawberry icebox cake — so many things to try and make to use ’em up! If you have another favorite strawberry recipe, comment below! I’d love more ideas.
