Why choose one color when you can have them all? 🙂 That’s what was on my mind when I picked out this dress for a weekend girls’ outing with my mom as we headed out to Catalina Island. I hadn’t been to Catalina since I was a kid (it’s a cute, nautical island about 20 miles off the coast of L.A.), and as we took the ferry to the island, a thick blanket of mist fell away to reveal a tiny warm oasis — already drenched in golden sun. This little number couldn’t have been more perfect!
I can’t get over this rainbow dress! I mean, I even matched the sprinkles on my ice cream cone! What a fun detail to add and take a simple linen cover-up to the next level. And, yes — technically, this dress is a cover-up. However, though the fabric is lightweight and airy (amazing in 100 degree heat!!), it isn’t see-though and doesn’t feel thin. It works comfortably as a dress and can be worn off-the-shoulder as well. I also can’t resist bows — peep the little ones that tie on the sleeves.
I’m a girl who loves a pair of heels, and wedges are a summertime best friend. These ones are low and so, so comfortable. I love the stripes (they also come in a fiery red, which I was eyeing!). The front tie is a soft faux suede and equally dressy and relaxed. They would also look great with shorts, jeans, or a cute romper.
A spoiler alert about this little blue bag — it’s actually a cosmetic bag…that I decided would make a perfect clutch! The size is large enough for a phone, cash/cards, a lipstick, and a few other essentials. The shell shape makes it a little more polished, as does the intricate geometric design. It also comes in a pink/orange hue, which I picked up as well. For under $10, it’s a deal!
I think Roy G. Biv would approve of my ensemble — how about you? 😉
