Berkeley doesn’t really have a lot of stores to shop at. Our college town is certainly an experience but filled with eateries over boutiques. However, tucked into a little corner about 20 minutes away is Fourth Street — the quaintest little avenue lined with small shops, Bay Area-specific apparel outposts, and familiar stores too (a Madewell, an Anthropologie, and some other favorites of mine!). There are delightful coffee shops and restaurants with outdoor seating and charming awnings. It’s different from the gritty urbanity that surrounds campus and a welcome escape for a mini shopping spree, some caffeination, and a croissant — which is exactly what my friends and I did! And I pulled out my most fall outfit for the occasion.
I actually mentioned this dress in last week’s Latest Obsessions post, and low and behold, I went out and bought it later that day! I’ve been wanting a sweater dress for so long, and I love how detailed this one is. Between the mock neck, subtle bell sleeves, and ruffle hemline at the bottom, it’s just so girly! Not to mention functional — the fabric is equally light and warm so that I didn’t feel overheated when the sun was out but also comfortable as the evening chill started to set in.The maroon color is on point with this season’s fall trends, and I’m picturing other ways to style it with tights, over-the-knee boots, and jackets (so many options!). It’s on sale for $35 right now — a true steal in my book!
I am too excited for these shoes! They showed up this week in an autumn-inspired package from my mom (I credit all of my fashion taste to her!), and I’m convinced that there doesn’t exist a more perfect fall block heel. The cognac leather is classic — honestly, the definition of timeless style. Also, how exquisite is that buckle on the front? These shoes are sophisticated, easy to walk in, and wonderfully versatile. I’m sure you’ll be seeing them again very soon. 🙂
When thinking of a palette, I love going a little darker during autumn. I tend to trade in light and poppy pinks for plums, dark nudes, and deep reds. The best place to show this off typically is in make-up, lips, and nails — all of which I did for this look. Focusing on the lip, I’m wearing this lipstick, which I’ve found to be a flattering fig color. Then for nail polish, I’m wearing this bordeaux color — a favorite of mine during fall! Word of advice: be daring when going dark! I loveeee light colors, but after experimenting with different darker shades, I’ve found some beautiful products.
I’m a little obsessed with this outfit. It will be excellent for date night or evening out! P.S. Did you know today is NationA peral Coffee Day? So apropos that a little cup of joe is featured in today’s post. Be sure to have an extra cup today (I know I will!), and happy weekend — I’m off to Carmel by the Sea for a fun road trip!
