Parties for Hosting: Wine Velvet Ruffles & Tulle Skirt

Happy Friday! If you’re anything like me, you’re wrapping your last-minute gifts and potentially waiting on a package or two (fingers crossed, right?!). I’m also trying to cram in gingerbread house making, baking, and watching some favorite Christmas movies that I haven’t gotten the chance to see yet this season (see: Eloise at Christmastime). How did Christmas Eve show up so fast?! I have one last holiday outfit to share, and this one may be my favorite. It’s so easy to put together and made up of investment pieces you can mix and match with other closet staples to create dozens of outfits. Together (from head to toe!), the ensemble clocks in at under $70.

This ruffled velvet cami was one of my Black Friday purchases, and it’s currently back on sale (in black too!) for $12. It’s a less expensive version of this top, which I also love. It’s the perfect going out top, and the cranberry color is gorgeous! I’ve paired it with jeans and black booties for a more casual look, but I absolutely love how it tucks into this skirt. Using a piece of grosgrain ribbon, I created a belt by tying into a big bow in the back. Dressed up or down, it’s such a good find!

I had been looking for a tulle skirt,Β and I can’t speak more highly about this one. The quality is extraordinary! I love the sparkly detailing at the bottom. It’s simple and classic, not too gaudy or overwhelming. When I was looking for tulle skirts, I kept encountering pieces where the lining only went half way down the skirt. The lining here goes all the way down. And want to guess the price? Only $23! Paired with this satin bow top or this gold scalloped cami, I think it would make a perfect New Year’s outfit too!

Finally, the shoes! Have you met a chicer pair of black pumps for less than $35? I think not! These are sophisticated and versatile. I picked them up for my internship next semester, but they transition well from work to play! The point isn’t too pointy, and the silhouette is feminine and powerful. I know I’ll get tons of use out of them, which of course is a testament to the fact that they’re a true staple piece.

Wishing everyone a blessed and beautiful holiday weekend! Be safe if you’re out picking up last-minute presents, and have a lovely Christmas Eve!
