In the Bay, we have officially entered “SW,” a.k.a. sweater weather. It felt like it took a hassle and half to get here (and so many days topping 80 or 90 degrees), but the weather has settled into a cool perpetually overcast state, and I am all about it. Case in point, I had tea everyday this weekend! Colder weather wouldn’t make sense without SW’s namesake, so it also meant that on a recent visit to a local nature reserve just to enjoy an outdoor dinner, I got to crack out this new sweater!
Ruffles have been a personal favorite this season (see this post featuring a chambray ruffled blouse!), and I particularly love them on sweaters. So, when I ran across this one in such a gorgeous mauve and currently only $29, I didn’t hesitate and added it to my cart — I’m always on the hunt for staple pieces and felt this sweater would qualify. Pairing it with jeans was an easy choice because of the woodsy environment, but imagine it with a black circle skirt, black patterned tights, and black sock booties! I’d throw my hair in a topknot and call it a night! Other ruffled sweaters I’m crushing on include this grey tiered one, this trim one, this pink one, and this cardigan.
I cracked out these oxfords yet again. See this post, this post, and this post to see why I love them so much (or just trust me as they now have appeared in four posts!). I also matched the sweater with this mauve nail polish, which is one of my all-time favorite fall colors. It’s a fantastic neutral and pairs easily with an earthy closet color scheme.
We spent the evening playing cards and munching on chicken brats freshly barbecued. Now that daylight saving time has passed — I don’t know about you, but I so appreciated that extra hour yesterday — the sun is going to start setting around 5 p.m.! So until spring time, no more picnic dinners to be had. But I’ll happily trade it in for a cozy blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and a new Netflix show to binge. 😉
