Mornings in the Marina: Striped Sweater & Sailor Pants

Today’s outfit is one I’ve been excited about for weeks! In all my time blogging on YC, I’ve neglected to feature a chic pair of pants. Plus, I should mention that EVERYTHING, from sweater to pants to heels rings in at under $85! These are some true quality budget pieces, my friends! Hannah, Alexandra, and I went out to breakfast on Friday morning. I opted for a pumpkin croissant (yes, you read that correctly! It was fantastic) from b.pattisserie. We then did a little shopping in the Marina District, which is honestly one of the cutest areas in the city. (It has every kind of workout clothing or athleisure store you can imagine!)

When I first saw this sweater, I did a double take — it was a spitting image of this one but a fraction of the cost! As a rule of thumb, stripes are a flattering print, and I love these. Plus, the sleeves on this sweater are balloon style — see how they puff up subtly. Honestly the color, style, and fit is spot-on. I can imagine this piece pairing well with jeans and riding boots, or even with a suede skirt. It’s a sweater with excellent longevity; it won’t ever go out of style!

Let’s talk about these sailor pants, shall we? As a younger college student, I didn’t have much of a purpose for them — especially pants with a culotte fit, because they have to be worn with heels. But now that I go out more often to nicer places, I’m starting to curate a more professional kind of wardrobe. The sophistication of these pants speaks to me sincerely. I love them! One thing to mention is that some of the buttons did feel a little loose, but with one simple stitch, this can be easily fixed.

I’m now convinced that every girl needs a good pair of block heels. I first saw these before summer even started, and I don’t know why I resisted buying them for so long. It finally got to the point where I realized I wanted another pair of heels that was simple and could go with jeans just as easily as a dress, so I dragged them to my cart and haven’t looked back. Moral of the story: when you want something practical, buy it. These are comfortable and I love the way they look with almost any outfit — a total steal!

From the yummy pastries, to the gorgeous fall florals, to this outfit that made me feel like I was dressed to the nines, this morning could not have been better! And you can bet I’ll be pulling out this look again soon — probably for a night on the town!
