I have a visitor! My mom came out to San Francisco to come and visit me — it has been the nicest treat! Per usual, that meant a huge shopping excursion — in this case, window shopping (we’re holding out for Black Friday — how is that only a week and a half away?!?). We walked into some of stores around Montgomery Street and Union Square and heard the very first of the season — Christmas carols. And I know I should be getting more into the holiday spirit but every year I abstain from the festive tunes until post-Thanksgiving — and then binge on “Fa La La La La” and “Jingle Bells” nonstop until December 25. It’s not as easy as you would think, let me tell you — especially seeing the snowflakes hung up around the city and cool weather finally settling in!
I’ve been wanting a straight A-line coat this season — something classic and city chic. I’m soon to be a working woman and want to look to part! When I came across this jacket, I figured put it in my cart and give it a try. To name it, they smashed “coat” and “cardigan” together to produce a newfangled moniker: “coatigan.” Cute, right? And it does live up to that honestly — it has the professionalism of a coat but the comfort of a cardigan, and a warmth factor that predictably falls in-between. It wouldn’t be my top pick for winter in New York, but for fall and for living in San Francisco — a perfect fit!
I finally brought out my over-the-knee boots, oh how I have missed you! You can find a similar pair here, or if you are just looking for a black suede (not over-the-knee) boot, check here. I love how they complement most looks, bringing a tailored and powerful element to an ensemble. They’re something I consistently get compliments on, and having a flat sole (even on a girl who is 5’3″) is equally pragmatic and stylish.
Ribbons on ribbons. That’s how I’ve felt recently! I just want them all, and fun little sneak peek, but I’m in the midst of planning a huge bows and ribbons in hair posts for the holidays coming to you soon! This black satin ribbon is a feminine touch and is thick enough to be tied in styles like this low pony. I loved trying something a little different! Also, for overall darker accents, I used this lip color and this nail polish to tie the outfit together.
I’ve got a lot of items on my list for Black Friday — how about you?! I’m thrilled to see what the stores will have in store, and would be lying if I said I wasn’t itching to hang some holly already!
