Meandering in Marigold: Chenille Sweater

Thank you for your patience!! Long story short, if you didn’t see the snippet post I put up earlier today, I had loads of computer problems last night into the wee hours of the morning (that’s when they always happen, am I right?), so I couldn’t get today’s post up immediately, but here it is!!

As you’re reading this, I’m probably home for Thanksgiving break! I caught a flight earlier today and am more than ready for a week of peppermint mochas, shopping the sales, and quality time with my family. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and I am definitely ready for a break. Today’s post features an outfit I wore last week! My mom stopped by the Bay for a super quick visit, and we couldn’t help take a stroll through one of my favorite places: Elmwood (if you ever make it up to Berkeley, you have to go to this cafe!!).

To be completely honest, I couldn’t get over this look Julia Engel (Gal Meets Glam) wore in New York this past September. The yellow caught my attention immediately! But note to self: yellow is a hard color is to find nice pieces in! I kept gravitating toward items that either washed me out or just didn’t complement my warm olive skin tone. But when I saw this chenille sweater, I had a feeling it would be the one. The gorgeous marigold did exactly the trick. Plus it priced at $20 and unbelievably soft (for comparison, other chenille sweaters like this one or this one cost over $50!), so I would say I scored! Fun fact: I’ll be wearing it on my flight home today, hehe. 😉

It’s holiday season, meaning time for red lips! I’ve tried dozens of reds in the past. You can find some of my favorites here, here, and here. I promise, once you find the shade that works for you, you’ll understand why people swear by it. The best way to do this is to color matched (most Sephoras will match you for free if you ask a cosmetician!) or swatch a few on your arm and see what looks best. Thought I opt for poppy coral  reds in the summertime, I am all about dark, blue-toned rouges and berries in the winter. I can’t say enough good things about the lipstick I’m wearing here: it stains beautifully (less need for reapplication), is long-lasting but hydrating, and I mean, have you seen the color?!!

Here’s a secret for you! I found this little buckle bag at an Old Navy Black Friday sale for under $10 a few years back. And because I was a little caught up in the rush, I didn’t even know whether or not I was going to purchase it. Thank goodness I did! Seriously, I know I would have been kicking myself otherwise! Black Friday finds for the win, per usual — are you as excited for this Friday as I am? 😉 A good thing to scout for might be a red or burgundy bag like this one or this one!. They are truly staple bags for the season!

Isn’t Berkeley so pretty in the fall?! We even saw some persimmon trees (my favorite fruit!) on on stroll. Nature is worth being in awe over sometimes, and taking walks is the easiest way to remember there’s a whole beautiful world around you!
