Ok, slight disclaimer — 3/6 things on today’s Latest Obsessions line-up are pumpkin-related. This is pure coincidence, but ’tis the season, right! Fun news for this Friday — my family is coming to visit this weekend! They arrive today, and I’m quite thrilled. We’re headed to one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay (Sol Food, which I talked about in this post). I’m quite thrilled. 🙂 This week has been a busy one, but you can bet I’m excited for the weekend!
Winter in New York
This has been the biggest part of my last week and a half. Essentially, my friends spontaneously decided to plan a trip to Boston and New York over winter break. Honestly, it shouldn’t have come together — there are at least 5 of us going, and it’s not easy to coordinate something. But we all did it, and we all booked. I could not be more excited to be heading out to my favorite city!! Eeep, I’m getting butterflies just thinking about it!! Plus, I’ll be celebrating my 21st birthday in January, and if all goes well, I’ll be in New York the night of!
If given the chance, I could do some serious damage with Rifle Paper Co., I simply love all of their stationery and other items! When they announced this collaboration with L’Occintane, I personally thought there couldn’t be a better match! I would be lying if I said I didn’t get totally excited about aesthetic hand lotions. It’s something I find really practical to carry around in my backpack or purse, and these floral designs are just irrisistable!
This smoothie, oh my pumpkin goodness! October hits, and I am always on the hunt for something healthy and filled with pumpkin spice — this is definitely it. I ordered it from Jamba one afternoon when I had to stay on campus, and was happy to see it only has almond milk, pumpkin puree, Whey protein, cinnamon, and nutmeg in it. But truly, how good could it be? Well, I have to give Jamba Juice some major credits for this thing, which rings in at 23 grams of protein! It tastes like fall in a cup and is super filling. Ugh, I’m craving right now just thinking about it!
This Pumpkin Menu
Ok, how cute is this?! It showed up on my Instagram story, and I immediately screenshot it and sent it to my mom. It simply cracked me up! I mean, how innovative to name your fall drinks after the Spice Girls?! This coffee shop earns 10 points for creativity for sure! I mean, come on, “Tell us what you want, what you really, really want!” It’s just too good! If I had to pick one, it’d probably be a Ginger Spice or a Baby Spice — how good do those sound?
So last night, friends and I went on an excursion to Trader Joe’s and purchased a BUNCH of pumpkin spice products for a sampling session. We had been meaning to do it at some point this season (honestly will probably do it again!) and selected some good things to try and rate. Our line-up for you was: the Pumpkin Spice Chai Loaf, the Pumpkin & Roasted Pepitas Cookies, the Pumpkin Jo-Jo’s, the Pumpkin Butter, the Pumpkin & Cranberry Pita Chips, and the Harvest Spice Trek Mix. Out of all of them, the Harvest Spice mix was the unanimous winner (even if people had a different favorite item, not a single person was against the trail mix). It’s really yummy and not overpoweringly cinnamon-y. There are candied pecans and pieces of ginger too, as well as dried apple ring pieces! Though it’s a little on the pricier side ($6.99), I will probably pick up another bag as a treat sometime before the season ends!
I came across this high school homecoming performance this week, and it is SO GOOD! Seriously, I was captivated the whole time. I only wish my high school homecoming rally was this amazing! From the fitting music to the integration of the whole Wizard of Oz storyline to the incredible dancing, everything behind this video was well-thought-out, and even better executed. It’s worth the watch!
