Golden Gate Park & the Conservatory of Flowers

My studying is in full swing because finals are next week (but since I had to write a cummulative 50 pages, I’ve now written 28…progress!). But to give ourselves a break, a few of my sorority sisters and I decided to head over to Golden Gate Park on Sunday afternoon. Now, I’ve been to Golden Gate Park before, but I didn’t really have the chance to see everything there is to do — and trust me, there’s a lot. First thing’s first, the park is gorgeous. We were overwhelmed at all of the photo opportunities available to us!

Also, it’s huge. As we were meandered through, we saw tons of museums and gardens we wish we would have had the time to explore — next time, right?! Here’s a link to everything Golden Gate Park has to offer, but the ones that really popped out to us were the California Academy of Sciences, the De Young Museum, and the Aquarium! However, we were able to make it up to the Conservatory of Flowers, which was absolutely beautiful. The outside was purely majestic — a white castle-like structure surrounded by bright flowers.

To get into the Conservatory, admission is $8 for adults and $6 for college students with ID. San Francisco residents qualify for an additional discount. Inside, there are several rooms filled with plants and flowers. Because it’s winter, we saw a lot of orchids, which were stunning. The temperature is also much warmer, seeing as though it’s a greenhouse.

It’s an incredibly peaceful place. I was saying how I would love to come back with a book, and just sit and read for a bit. It’s almost entirely silent, and there are small waterfalls and benches to sit on and merely observe. It’s absolutely picturesque, and I highly recommend going.

The rest of the day was spent enjoying Golden Gate Park’s beauty, and we stopped for food at the cafe inside the De Young Museum — they have tons of really yummy, organic options but it is pretty expensive. (San Francisco food sometimes, what are ya going to do?) I got some pumpkin soup and a latte.

Also, as a side note, the Bay Area weather has been so frigid lately! I love this new sweater I got — so comfy!

XOXO,

P.S. Here are some bonus pictures of me and my “Little,” the girl I mentor in my sorority! Isn’t she the cutest? 🙂
