Hi, everyone! I came across this tag on YouTube and thought it’d be fun to do, especially for all you new readers out there. It’s 25 questions — some quick, some more personal — to learn more about me!
1. What is your middle name?
Danielle, after my grandfather, whose middle name was Daniel!
2. What is your favorite color?
3. How tall are you?
5’3″….on a good day. 😉 I used to want to be a little taller, but I’ve come to love my height. For one thing, I can always wear heels!
4. Funniest moment throughout school?
Last year, my roommate and I drafted a fake very strongly-worded letter signed “From Berkeley Housing Administration” and slid it under our neighbors’ door because they had a habit of turning up the volume on their game station between the hours of 2-4 a.m. so that the whole hall could hear. Needless to say, we had a lot more peace and quiet after that. 🙂
5. How many countries have you visited?
Ugh, only 2. Hopefully that will change soon! Places I’d love to visit are France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Australia, and Peru.
6. Are you in/gone to college?
In college, at UC Berkeley which is right across the Bay from San Francisco. I really didn’t expect to stay on the West Coast for school, but Berkeley is a really dynamic place to be and though I’ll be happy to head to the East Coast after graduation, I couldn’t have imagined going anywhere else.
7. What was your favorite and worst subjects in high school?
Favorite was English and US history. Worst was physics.
8. What is your favorite drink?
I really enjoy sparkling water, and if I want something fun, pink lemonade! Coffee with cream is an every-day go-to, as is kombucha.
9. What is your favorite animal?
I sincerely love hedgehogs. It originated from owning a tiny little stuffed hedgehog when I was little and has since grown into a legitimate obsession.
11. What is your favorite perfume?
12. Tea or Coffee?
Definitely coffee. I recently told a friend, “I don’t think I’ll ever complain about paying for good coffee.” And it’s so true! Cappuccinos (espresso + steamed milk + foam) are my favorite when done well, otherwise I’ll opt for a vanilla latte (espresso + steamed milk + vanilla + sugar), a normal latte (espresso + steamed milk) or a café au lait (espresso + hot milk). I take my coffee very, very seriously. 😉
13. What would you (or have you) name your children?
Oh gosh, sometimes I think I’m going to be excessively glamorous and name my children after New York City streets, like Brooklyn or Lexington or Charlton, but chances are if I have a daughter, I might name her after a flower like Peony or Sage. I guess I’ll really start thinking about it when the time comes!
14. What sports do you play/have you played?
I used to do musical theater, so dance was about the closest I came to sports. I now love hiking, running, biking, tossing a lacrosse ball around with my younger brother, and working out. I live a pretty active lifestyle and am always ready for any kind of adventure!
15. What is your favorite book?
16. Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
Carly Heitlinger from The College Prepster was the very first blogger who I had ever read, and that was years ago. I’ve kept up with her since then and continue to look up to her as a blogger. Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam is hands-down another one of my absolute favorites, and I’ve met her!!! (You can read about that here.) Sarah Vickers from Classy Girls Wear Pearls. Kate Padgitt from Lonestar Southern. Megan Yazdani from attn: To Detail. Abby from Belle of the Ball 45. And Lucy from Daily Dose of Prep.
17. What is your favorite movie?
18. What’s your idea of an ideal first date?
I’m a true romantic at heart, and I absolutely love intimate settings where I can get to know someone. Picnic dates are a favorite, or going to a museum or a play — or a new restaurant! My favorite kind of dates are where the guy puts thought into the activity and comes up with something that can be simple but memorable — something I’ll remember fondly and hold in my heart.
19. Favorite memory from childhood?
For a long time as a little girl, my “perfect day” was when my mom — sick as a dog — kept her promise to take me to the newly-opened American Girl store at the Grove in LA. We ate clam chowder in the Cheesecake Factory because it was rainy outside and she wasn’t feeling well and then we went into the store, and I remember it being magical. I have a lot of fond childhood memories, but that one still stands out as something special.
20. Do you speak any different languages and how well?
I speak Spanish decently, as in enough to read, listen, and hold my own when trying to respond back. I think the one lapse in my knowledge is just that I haven’t been immersed yet, so hopefully at some point in the near future, I’ll be able to spend more time in a Spanish-speaking country and get a little more comfortable with it. I’ve also always wanted to learn French!
21. Do you have any siblings?
One! A younger brother, who’s a junior in high school. We’re very close, and he’s such a wiz — super smart, athletic, personable, and passionate. I’ve loved relating more with him as the both of us have gotten older.
22. How would you describe your fashion sense?
Timeless, classy, chic…with a serious love for New England prep! My style is very feminine and girly (I really love bows, beautiful fabrics, and blush!), and I also adore pops of color and clean-cut looks. My favorite places to shop are definitely Anthropologie, J.Crew, Vineyard Vines, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Banana Republic, Zara, H&M, Old Navy, Nordstrom, Target, and Marshalls. For jewelry, I love Alex & Ani, KJP, Kendra Scott, and Kate Spade. I try to pull from each place to combine expensive pieces with affordable basics and create inspired looks!
23. What is your favorite restaurant?
I’ve been lucky to sample some amazing restaurants in my short lifetime. Balthazar in New York is probably my all-time favorite (between the food and ambiance!), but also Tavern on the Green and little owl, both also in New York, and then Scoma’s in San Francisco, The Walrus and the Carpenter in Seattle, and Watermarc in Laguna Beach.
24. What are some of your favorite TV shows?
I’ve seen Gossip Girl four times through — I just love the fashion, the sights, the casting, and the over-the-top drama. I also loveeeee Gilmore Girls, How to Get Away with Murder (and most crime dramas), and a guilty pleasure was Dance Moms, but their final seasons have been a little off.
25. What is one of your bad habits?
Late-night snacking hehe. 🙂 (Popcorn, dark chocolate, fruit, and trail mix are my favorite!)
