One thing I love about fall is the nuanced patterns — the designs are so intricate and the colors so rich. I’m thinking specifically of houndstooth, vintage florals, and plaid. Of course, a potential caveat to this is when patterns don’t fall in line with contemporary style. Classic prints sometimes air on the side of being too old, unfitted, or poorly colored. So today, I’ve taken my three favorite fall prints and found some pieces that do each of them right!
Blazers are a fall staple (I just purchased a new one!). Though the print is metallic, it’s done so tastefully. I love the orangey color and paired with a simple tee and jeans, it would elevate a classic outfit!
H&M Houndstooth Blouse ($35)
The thing I love about this blouse is how unique and versatile it is. Tucked into a skirt would be a charming way to style it, but also under a trench coat or jacket, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that there are sleeves!
This skirt is at the top of my list, though I’ll probably only be buying it if it goes on sale. Regardless, it’s a truly timeless piece and the dropped ruffle gives it a dressy flair. It’d be great paired with boots or loafers!
Do you notice the velvet accents on this top? Besides the gorgeous florals that clearly make the top stand out, I love the attention to detail on the sleeves and collar. This top is under $50 too — definitely something I may be picking up soon!
Real chrysanthemums are one of my favorite flowers, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that I like this dress so much. The cut and the ruffles certainly set it apart as well, and the florals are beautifully intense in color.
How adorable that Rifle Paper Co. teamed up with Keds?! An easy pair of sneaks for on-the-go, these will dress up jeans in a heartbeat. Pair with an olive or blush sweater, and you have a perfect casual outfit!
Barbour Tartan Scarf ($59)
When it comes to plaids, I’m really picky about color combinations. I love red plaids as we near Christmas, and earthy plaids for fall. This scarf looks extra cozy, and the olive-burgundy-mustard palette definitely passes my plaid test.
Capes are definitely a chic addition to any wardrobe, and a plaid one is certainly something that will be used throughout the season. I loved the color scheme on this one — between navy, the forest green, and orange, it seemed perfectly fall. The tie at the top would look too cute in a bow!
I love the ruffles on this top!! I personally would pair it with jeans or a navy corduroy skirt. As the weather gets colder, I might add a cream sweater and riding boots — aka a great transition piece.
