When I was a little girl, I used to imagine that fairies existed in a small patch of trees by my elementary school. I would spend all recesses with friends constructing little fairy houses out of leaves and pebbles. But truly, I think, if a fairy were to exist, she would have to live in a cypress grove. The quiet serenity of trees branching overhead and forming a shady tunnel underneath can only be described in one word: magic. And after visiting Point Reyes recently, I was lucky enough to be a little fairy and dance among the towering cypresses myself.
I felt like a princess twirling around in this dress. When I had first seen a peek of pink fabric in-store, I gravitated immediately toward it. A friend squealed, “That dress is so you!” and though I didn’t buy it on that trip, I couldn’t get it out of my head. From the delicate bow around the collar to the charming ribbon trim and sweet little ruffled hemlines, I was completely enamored by it. I couldn’t get over the level of detail and femininity (and also the price at only $35). It was truly love at first sight.
I have been so thrilled to pull out over-the-knee boots again. They are so powerful and daring for fall! I featured a favorite pair in this post from last season, but for my next pair I wanted a heeled option and found these beauties. For reference, most over-the-knee boots cost in the range of $80-$200. These, however, are $45 and totally worth the pocket-friendly price! My one caveat is that they are a bit high, so depending on what you’re looking for, it wouldn’t hurt to check out a lower heel like this pair or this pair. But I do love matching them with a dress for a style that’s a little outside my normal realm!
In the last few months, I’ve loved how my style has grown and evolved. I know I’ve become bolder in my choices and more willing to try new pieces. I felt wholly myself in today’s look and hope to be doing some more heeled over-the-knee boots and dress combos soon — and maybe branch out even more with a midi cut dress!
