Cupcakes on Bay Street: Plaid Blazer

Happy Wednesday! Being in the Bay has been a little hard for the last few days — the fires in wine country are affecting so many friends of friends, and everything smells of smoke. Here is an article about 8 ways to help. My sorority is taking part in a donation collection, and every contribution really makes a difference! Prayers for those affected and the fire fighters — hopefully everything gets under control soon.

As for today’s post, I’m talking blazers! I put together this look for a fun outing on Bay Street — a sweet little shopping district near school. Fall is the best season to blend professional pieces into normal style.  I’d say a fun blazer is a whimsical approach to sprucing up an average outfit. While I was there, I couldn’t resist a pumpkin spice cupcake from Kara’s Cupcakes. And look, it even matched my blazer!

Full disclosure: I got this vintage blazer off of Postmark. I wanted something that screamed “fall,” and the burnt orange, tawny color is unlike anything else in my closet. There are tons of blazer options out right now, and I located a bunch. My fall favorite has been this one — I absolutely adore the velvet bow! I also love this one, which is probably closest to the one I’m wearing and is less than $60This one has scallop detailing and is under $30! I’ve linked so many other cute ones below!

As for the remainder of my outfit, I love layering a bow blouse (this one is old, but I’ve found similar ones here and here) under a jacket or blazer. Pulling the bow out adds a little je ne sai quoi and is a great way to dress up a look. Pairing it with a simple black circle skirt like this one is an easy trick if you are also in semi-hot weather right now or want to take a day off from jeans. Oxfords are a staple shoe for me during fall, like these ones. And of course, this lipstick from Buxom is a gorgeous plummy shade — I’ve been wearing it a lot recently, as seen in this post and this post.

Love me a pumpkin spice cupcake always!! Or pumpkin spice anything, really…I’m such a sucker for all fall treats. 😉
