Oh, Christmas Tree!! I ran across a fun fact the other day — “Oh, Christmas Tree” was initially a German song called “O Tannenbaum,” and it wasn’t about Christmas at all. Somehow a little song about an evergreen became a classic Christmas carol over the ages. And truly, Christmas trees should be celebrated for their beauty. We stumbled upon a local farm, and I was awestruck by how intensely handsome the trees are. Nothing says Christmas quite like a little winter chill and the smell of pine!
I’ve had my eye on plaid and tartan vests this season — they seem to be everywhere! I found this one (and this one too), both are less expensive version of a very similar J.Crew one (though the J.Crew tartan pattern is classic and their vest is a bit thicker!). The piece looks so festive and paired with a simple turtleneck or long sleeve, like this extra comfy black tissue turtleneck (that’s currently under $13!), you have a statement piece on your hands! The velvet accents on the collar, zipper, and pockets add a little extra detailing too.
I matched the outfit with my bean boots — a true investment item, I wear them so frequently during fall and winter! When it comes to Christmas tree hunting, apple picking, light hikes, or rainy days — anything outdoorsy — they do the trick! Between the plaid and the duck boots, this outfit exudes the perfect amount of adventurous spirit!
I could have stayed in this grove for hours, humming along to “Oh, Christmas Tree.” Watching the sun cast rosy golden light over all of the pines and then fall behind the mountains — absolutely breathtaking. Sometimes, the most unexpected moments make for the most incredible!
