Biking on Balboa: Harbor Print Sailor Shorts & Pink Top

Oh, Balboa, you are truly a gem! It’s one of my favorite places to go and visit near my hometown. With monogram shops and boutiques, nautical restaurants, and little nooks everywhere you look, it feels like a mini vacation. One thing that’s a must-do if you ever get the chance to visit is rent bikes and take them for a spin! We decided to do just that — and lucky for us, the coastal fog decided to take a break, so there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky!

The second I saw these shorts, I fell madly in love with the print. The pink-green-blue color scheme is vibrant and fun — it’s meant to emulate Casablanca, and I could practically feel Moroccan wind tussling my hair. I’ve never tried high-waisted anything before, nor sailor shorts. I completely see why people love them! I mean, the cut is insanely flattering. Plus, the little buttons are the cutest touch! The fabric is like linen, but softer and airy. As for what to pair them with, I selected this pink scoop tank. It tucked into the shorts nicely, and was thin (but not too thin). Even in the 90 degree temperatures, I’d sum up this number with one word:  breezy.

I recently began the search for a pair of sunglasses that echoed the style of Jackie O. Criteria included: oversized, white rims (she mostly wore black, but I wanted to add a white pair to my collection!), round, and under $30 because this girl is on a budget. When I found these for $12, I was skeptical, but I ordered them anyway. I was happily surprised with their quality! For a fun pair of sunnies, they’re absolutely perfect! They add a retro pop, and I’ll be pairing them with other shorts and dresses. I know they’ll work next season as well, and the price point is pocket-friendly.

I’ve talked these sandals up all summer long (see this post, this post, this post, and this post). They’re comfortable and sophisticated, and I always feel like I should be hanging out at a beach club when I’m wearing them. For $25, this cornerstone item may have been my favorite buy of the summer.

Isn’t it great when you don’t have to choose just form or just function? I had no problem biking in this outfit, and yet it still managed to turn heads. I really have to hand it to J.Crew — their collections have been on point the last few seasons. Plus, both of these items are on sale now! Shop them below.
