Balboa Island & Flowing Blue Dress

This season, I have been so in love with light blue pieces! Shades like this blue nail polish, these pastel blue sandals, and this light blue ruffle bow top, so when I found this light blue dress at Mint Julep Boutique, I absolutely fell in love. It’s swirly and twirly and oh-so graceful, never mind the bow! It was a perfect little number for a nice lunch and some boutique shopping on Balboa Island!

I have to say, I felt like Wendy from Peter Pan dancing in this dress (hence the white bow in my hair!) And I looovveeeed how it was a piece I felt could easily translate from day to night. The silhouette couldn’t have been more flattering — between the elegant way the satin fabric gathered, the tie waist, and the dropped V cut, it was piece that made me feel good. Plus, even in heat and humidity, I was comfortable — a true testament of a summer staple!

The day on Balboa was so nice — the island is like a West Coast microcosm of Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. My dress even matched some of the houses! And there are monogram and nautical shops as far as the eye can see. Getting a frozen banana to celebrate summer was a must!

If you love this dress as much as I do, sign up for Mint Julep Boutique’s e-mails (scroll down, and it’s on the bottom of the page), and you’ll receive $10 to use toward your first order. Talk about a killer deal!
