Class is almost back in session, and I can hardly believe it. Madison from The Classic Madison and I have teamed up again (did you catch our State Swap Box post last week?) to create a Back-to-School outfit that’s sure to impress. I’ve always been a school girl at heart, and Back-to-School season gets me giddy every time! I’ll be doing a few more BTS posts and surprises in the coming weeks, so stay tuned, and enjoy this collab!
The second I saw this sweater, I knew it would be coming home with me. Between the patterned collar and the little pocket, I was simply smitten. I love the look of a collared shirt layered under a sweater, but I hate how it can sometimes bulge awkwardly. This completely solves that issue. The sweater is actually a slightly thinner blend, so though it’s warm, it’s the type of piece that would be perfect on a crisp early fall day. I also love 3/4-sleeved anything, so I’ll be donning this look on campus all semester long.
I chose to pair my sweater with a suede skirt, though I could have opted for pants, jeans, or shorts too. Pro-tip: If the weather is neither freezing nor sweltering, aim to wear something long on one half of your body, and something short on the other half. Because I was wearing a sweater, a shorter choice was perfect! I’ve had this suede option for two seasons and constantly find new ways to wear it — it’s a great staple item, and I’ve linked similar ones at different price points here, here, and here.
I bought these mules in late spring knowing they would be perfect in fall too. (You may have seen them in this post!) Seeing as they’re under $30, they’re very budget-friendly. As far as the look and quality goes, they hit those marks too! I’ve worn them with jeans, pants, skirts, rompers, and dresses before, and I love their versatility and slip-on ease.
As far as what I’m using to get back to the grind, I’ve picked up a classic Lilly Pulitzer agenda. There are so many cute and well-organized agendas out there, but I’ve been purchasing the Lilly ones for years and have all mine saved. It’s fun to look back at past years and reminisce, and this way, they all stay uniform. I’m also using Moleskin notebooks, which I hand painted to make more personalized. Here’s a sneak peak of Madison’s outfit, and you can see more of her look here. I love how we each thought of something tailored and cute, but also functional!
